February 2025
Dear Neighbor,
I suppose all the snow this winter has us hoping for early Spring. However, it seems Mother Nature has plans for more “white stuff” before the weather warms. No worries, Spring will be here soon enough.
Bravo!
A note of appreciation to those of you who made quick work of clearing your sidewalks of ice and snow after this week’s snowfall. So good that we show consideration for our neighbors’ safety. Cheers to our FTHOA VP, Ronda, for ensuring Blade Runners was on top of our road service.
Looking Good!
Garden of the Month for February honors go to 6511 Major Street. While winter is a tough time to garden, this home is an example of how simply keeping a tidy garden, even in the cold months, can make a home very attractive. We all look good when we each do our bit. Drop by 6511 Major St and see what I mean.
Dues and Dont's.
We rely on homeowners to be on-time with dues so we can pay for our community services on time. We have 10 homeowners who have not yet paid their Jan 2025 HOA dues, and one who is now 13 months behind. If you have not paid your Jan 2025 dues, please do so before the end of Feb, and be sure to add a $50 late fee to your total (add $100 if paid after Feb 28). If you are past due for your July 2024 dues, too, do add $350 in late fees ($50 per month) to your payment. PayPal and Venmo are now acceptable methods of payment, along with good ‘ole checks. Instructions were on your January dues invoice. If you PayPal, be sure to add the 3% ($15) business transaction fee. Direct banking is forthcoming. Finally, a reminder that dues are now $500 semiannually. Any questions on your dues’ status can be addressed by our Treasurer, Neil, or through me (contact below).
WWW.FAIRLANDTOWNSHOA.COM:
Please become familiar with our FTHOA community website www.fairlandtownshoa.com . It is your GO-TO place for current news in the community. You will also find our bylaws and Architectural Guidelines, as well as reference materials for all you home improvements needs. If you would like us to add a “Preferred Contractor” that you recommend to your neighbors for their quality work, let us know who they are and why you liked them. Remember, we are moving to all digital, so you will receive mailings only in emergency. All HOA and official notifications will be done by email or on our website.
Board Small Group Meeting.
Your Board met in February. Items of interest included above average expenditures for snow removal, dues payments (see above), Spring ARB homes inspections, and outstanding ARB infractions. We would really like to have a non-board set of eyes accompany Hector when he does his inspections in April, to help keep us fair and equitable as we look to maintain standards. All you need is a bit of time, familiarity with ARB guidelines, and a desire to keep our community up to snuff. If interested please contact Hector directly, or give me a shout and I will connect you.
Slip Sliding Away.
Since we are still clearly in the midst of Winter and snow, another reminder that each homeowner is responsible to keep the walks which are in front of and adjacent to their homes free of snow and ice. Please make the effort to keep all of us safe as we move about the neighborhood. If physically able, please also clear the snow from your nearest mailbox and fire hydrants as a courtesy for our mail and emergency service providers.
That is all for this month. Have an enjoyable Presidents’ Day Weekend.
Spread kindness!
Cheers,
Kevin (703-772-6216), Ronda, Neil, Jeff and Hector
